Paste anything

Available on main (S-04, W-03)

Paste whatever your phone gave you: a profile URL, a Douyin or Xiaohongshu share message, an @handle, or ig: lin.cooks. Homestead splits the text, expands short links, matches each piece against its platform registry and shows you who it found.

Local-language prefixes work too (微信:grandma_noi, ไลน์ @thaicook), as do full-width colons and Chinese brackets. If a handle could belong to several platforms, you pick.

One calm feed that ends

Available on main (S-09, W-05)

The feed ranks moments by how recent they are, how close the person is to you, and whether it's a live story. A diversity pass stops one person filling the screen.

There's no infinite scroll, no streaks and no red badges. When you've seen everything, Homestead says so, and older items fold into a short "Earlier" list.

Hearth picks

Available on main (S-09, W-05)

WeChat Moments and personal LINE timelines only exist inside their apps. For people Homestead can't see, and for friends who have gone quiet, it suggests a visit, weighted by how long it has been.

Picks stay the same all day and change when you tap Shuffle. Tapping one opens the person's profile in the right app.

Stories, face by face

Available on main (S-09, W-06)

The story rail puts people with unseen live stories first, then people with other new moments, then a few dashed "visit" bubbles for people to check in on.

Seen state is per household member, so everyone in the family keeps their own place.

Circles you can share

Available on main (S-05, S-13, W-07)

Circles can be shared with the household or kept private. Filter the feed to one circle when you want a quieter view.

Share links carry only names and public profile links, never moments. They can expire and be revoked. Anyone can import a shared circle into their own Homestead.

One household, many members

Available on main (S-03, W-02)

Several family members share one instance and co-edit circles. Each keeps their own seen state and visits.

Viewers (say, a grandparent) can read the feed and watch stories without anything to configure.

Welcomes your AI agent

Available on main (S-07, S-08, S-14)

Homestead has an MCP server at /mcp and an Agent Skill. Agents use scoped tokens and the same API as the apps.

For platforms that need a logged-in browser, the agent fetches with your own session on your own machine and pushes moments back. Homestead never stores platform passwords or cookies. Some platforms forbid automated access; you decide.

Firefox companion

Coming in 1.0 (E-01, E-02, E-03, H-01, S-16, S-17)

Homestead Companion captures followed profiles while you browse, and Update circle opens a circle's profiles a few tabs at a time. Homestead Helper reads the images from Firefox's own cache, so nothing downloads twice.

Server-side extraction uses an AI model through OpenRouter that can only point at IDs the server assigned. It's off until the owner adds a key.

Nine platforms at launch

Available on main (S-01, S-10, S-11, S-12)

Each platform has a fetch tier: the server reads open APIs (Bluesky, Truth Social, and X with your own API key), agents handle platforms that need a login, and closed platforms get hearth picks.

The registry is data (platforms/platforms.yaml), so adding a platform is a contract change, not a rewrite.

Three languages, all first-class

Available on main (C-06, M-01, W-01)

No screen is designed in English first and squeezed later. Thai dates use the Buddhist calendar, and Chinese and Thai get their own line heights and fonts.

Text size goes from 100 % to 160 %, and every screen is checked at 360 px width.

Web, phone and PWA

Available on main (W-10, M-02)

Open Homestead on your phone by scanning a QR code from the web app, typing the address, or picking a server found on your home network.

The web app installs as a PWA with a share target. The Flutter app's connect and pairing screens are done; its feed and people screens are still being built.

Private by default

Available on main (S-02, S-06, S-15)

Data stays on your household's server. Stories are kept 7 days and posts 60 days by default. homestead backup exports everything.

Homestead works in mainland China: it has no dependencies that are blocked there.
