Glossary

Homestead uses these terms the same way in code, the API and the app (docs/01-product.md). Generated from the app repository at commit 5256875 (2026-10-24).

Term	Meaning
Household	One Homestead instance and its members.
Member	A human who logs into the household (owner, member or viewer).
Person	Someone you follow. Has a name, a face and one or more accounts.
Account	A person’s profile on one platform.
Platform	A social network in the registry (platforms/platforms.yaml).
Circle	A named group of people. Household-shared or private.
Moment	One item fetched from an account: a story, post, video or link.
Story rail	The row of faces at the top of the feed.
Hearth pick	A suggestion card: “visit this person on this platform”. Used when Homestead cannot see their content.
Fetch tier	How Homestead gets moments for a platform: server, agent or closed.
Agent	An AI agent (Hermes, OpenClaw, other MCP client) connected with an agent token.
Share link	A link or QR code that lets someone import a circle.
Companion	The Firefox extension, with the Homestead Helper, that saves posts while you browse.
Hearth	The app’s design language. Its dark theme is called Ember.
